Human ear is composed of three parts and each part has its designated function. So, hearing is a step by step process that depends on the functioning of the various parts. It can be caused to the physical damage to the inner ear (sensorineural hearing loss) or due to the defect in the outer or middle ear (conductive hearing loss) or due to the combination of both which is called mixed hearing loss.

It can occur due to malfunctions in the ear and is classified according to the type of malfunction, severity and extent of disability or stage of occurrence. Different forms of hearing impairments need different approaches for the treatment, most of the problems connected to the outer and middle ear can be addressed effectively with medication or surgery and if everything else fails there hearing aids can help in resolving the problems to a certain extent.
